Mikhailovsky Castle, revived as the residence of Emperor Paul I, is a unique monument of the Russian architecture of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. It combines the features of a secular palace and a medieval knight's castle, noting with its unusual appearance Emperor Pauls acceptance of the title of Grandmaster of the ancient knightly Order of Malta in 1798.

Each of the four facades of the castle has a different design. The main (southern) facade is decorated with powerful marble obelisks with imperial monograms. The northern facade facing the summer garden is reminiscent of the Italian Renaissance palazzo.

The interiors of the Mikhailovsky Castle were called by contemporaries "a miracle of luxury and taste." The masters of monumental painting P.K. and J. Scotty, A.Vigi, J. Mettenleiter, sculptors K. Albani, I.P. Prokofiev, P.I. Sokolov, painters I.A. Akimov, A.M. Ivanov and others took part in their decorative design. The meeting point of guests is in the courtyard of the castle. The evening program includes guards parade, the castle history tour, buffet reception, music band performance.
